Grateful...
That word seems to have more weight with me than the word "thankful." Thankful is a casual albeit heartfelt expression of appreciation, in my mind, whereas grateful is an enduringly profound state. And so I find myself grateful not as a fleeting reflection on the upcoming holidays but rather for the life I have lived and am living. I am and will forever be in an enduring state of gratitude to all those I have the opportunity of loving and equally to those that I do not. Simply to have consciously existed in this wondrous universe is magical but to have done so with family, friends, and enemies is to me a state of grace.

So to those I love, my family and friends, I am more grateful to you than I will ever be able to express in this lifetime. I am grateful for knowing you...each of you are exquisite works of art and incredibly beautiful inspirations to me. I hope your lives are full of happiness, wonder, and challenge.

And to those I do not love...I am grateful to you as well. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned from you. I have found strength and beauty in your disdain and hatred of me as well as in mine for you. I wish you good luck.

As the saying goes, "If you cannot be an inspiration then be a lesson." I can live with that!
